Burgundy Moto Jacket + Knee-High Boots

March 19, 2018 bagsbybob 0

Jacket: Blank NYC Suede Moto Jacket (see other colors available here) Sweater: BR turtleneck sweater with lace details Bottom: Leggings with contrasting side stripes Bag: Circle bag Boots: Stuart Weitzman Highland Boots in Burgundy (see other colors here) It’s tough to decide which one I love more, the moto jacket or the white turtleneck sweater. For the moto jacket, I had a hard time debating between this burgundy color or a neutral grey and I am glad I went with this rich burgundy color. The cut and length of the jacket is very flattering and the material has a decent weight to it. The Blank NYC suede moto jackets are affordable and the quality is great for the price. Then for my best sales find of the season, the Banana Republic sweater. I’ve been eyeing this white turtleneck sweater since hit the stores last winter, this is a collaboration piece between Olivia Palermo and BR. I love the high turtleneck, the lace detail on the bottom and on the bell sleeves. It is a great basic (but still unique) layering piece for the cold weather. The only issue was its $198 price tag. I am so glad I walked away the first few times because …

Caramel Military Coat + White Turtleneck

March 12, 2018 bagsbybob 0

Coat: Club Monaco Sogand Coat (see longer black version here) Turtleneck: Cashmere sweater in color snow Jeans: Toothpick jeans in white Bag: My beloved bongo (circle) bag Boots: Ted Baker Lorca 2  Sunglasses: Celine Tilda Sunglasses Camel color coats are a wardrobe staple but I’ve always walked away from all camel color coats I’ve tried on because the color is just not flattering for my skin tone. Then I found this lighter camel or “caramel color” coat from Club Monaco and finally decided to jump onboard. In addition to the color, I love the military style – it’s classic yet modern. The length is also perfect on my 5’2″ frame – it’s long enough to lengthen but not too long that it looks like I’m wearing a potato sack. Overall, I love this coat but I do have to cite a couple cons. One, the way the thick shoulder materials and labels are constructed, even if I stand straight, optically it still looks like I have a slight hunchback. The problem is solvable by letting my hair down. Two, although this coat is 69% wool and relatively thick, this coat does not keep me warm at all. The coat uses one button closure …

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

Top: Bow Tie Halter Top (on sale for $6.74!) see the halter top in another post here Sweater: Grey Sweater with Beautiful Knitting Detail Shorts: Old Zara striped bermuda jeans Boots: Ted Baker Lorca Ankle Boots Bag: Circle Bag It snowed in Connecticut a couple of weekend ago and this genius here thought the white background would look great in pictures. I don’t know if it looks that good but I was freezing. My neighbors probably thought I was crazy and I won’t even disagree. Anyways, hope everyone is having a great week and you really should go check out this halter top which is on sale for $6.74! I love throwing on a cardigan and wearing it for work or as a standalone top during the weekend when the weather is much warmer or under a sweater in the winter. I am a huge fan of bows – bows on shoes, bags, clothing, hair accessories, you name it – as I grow older, I generally prefer bigger bows which to me comes across as more sophisticated. The material is quite thin but it’s not see through. Too bad they didn’t have more colors, the only color options are navy blue and burgundy and it’s so …

Penguin Season

February 12, 2018 bagsbybob 0

Sweater: Express sweater (see other adorable penguin sweaters here and here) Jeans: Old distressed jeans (see similar here and here) Bag: Miss Dior Wallet on Chain (see Dior’s whole wallet collection here) Boots: Stuart Weitzman Highland Boots in Slate (Certain sizes and colors on sale for $450 here!) Sweaters are wardrobe staples during fall / winter. My sweaters vary in color, material, knit pattern, shape, fit, but for some reason, I never purchase sweaters with graphics anymore. I didn’t even realize this until I received this penguin sweater from a dear family member this past Christmas. Penguins have a special meaning to me so I immediately fell in love with this sweater. It’s hard to explain but this sweater reminds me to stay young and playful regardless of how old we are. Something tells me this will be the beginning of more clothing with cute graphics for me =)      Thank you for visiting! Just An Off-The-Shoulder Dress

January 30, 2018 bagsbybob 0

Sweater Dress: old H&M sweater dress (see similars here and here) Bag: Ferragamo Wallet on Chain (read my review here) Shoes: Stuart Weitzman Highland Boots (in color slate – see a lighter grey version here) An off-the-shoulder sweater dress and over-the-knee boot combo is a winter basic, and for a good reason. The sexy and effortless look is easy to pull together and super flattering, so not surprisingly it is a popular outfit. What amazes me is even though there are thousands of off-the-sweater dress and over-the-knee boot combos, they all have their own flavor based on color, material, knit pattern, handbags, other accessories, hair style, background, etc. A couple of notes on the Stuart Weitzman Highland boots. I liked the boots for so long but I have always thought the boot would be way too high up on my thigh and look ridiculous (I am 5’2″). I did tried on the 5050s which have a similar shaft of 24″ and they were way too much. Anyways, thank goodness for free returns because I finally decided to buy a pair to test try them in person and I have never looked back. I love these boots, even with the 4″ heel the boots …
