To tell the truth, although Balenciaga bags weren’t how my interest in accessories started, they played a big role in sucking me into a full-on obsession. It was the mid-2000s, and any fashionable woman who fancied herself the least bit edgy was at least considering adding one to her collection. Despite still being in college, I did more than consider–I bought.
My college job (selling appliances and TVs at the Athens, Georgia Best Buy; it was very glamorous) didn’t pay all that well, as you might imagine, but my living expenses were so low that the job did give me an opportunity to forage eBay for good deals. In the space of about two years, I had four Balenciaga bags and the thrill of designer acquisition had ruined me for life. I only have one of those bags still in my closet, and although I eventually moved on to other brands, the classic Balenciaga Motorcycle Bag still has a very special place in my heart.
I thought my days of wanting to buy Motos were well behind me, but a couple of seasons ago, Balenciaga decided to miniaturize its City into a crossbody version and managed to stir a little interest (as well as a little nostalgia) in me. Now that the brand is making the Mini City with its throwback Giant hardware, I’m just barely keeping up my resistance to the idea that I need to get back on the City Bag bandwagon. Based on how quickly colors of this bag seem to sell out, I’m not the only person with a reignited Balenciaga curiosity.
Below, check out some of the Mini City colors currently available. Of course, with Balenciaga, the colors are everything.
