Late last week, Business of Fashion reported that Gucci had increased some of its purse costs by up to 9 percent worldwide. Though Chanel’s official announcement adamantly expressed its growth wasn’t due to this current world events, experts say that most cost increases are a direct consequence of the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, even as hard-hit luxury brands try to recover from months of store closures and much more.
