Dreaming of Paris? Then you’re not alone. While we’re all stuck at home this summer, and missing strolls along the Seine and picnics in front of the Eiffel Tower, Christian Louboutin has written a love letter to his hometown in his latest collection. The Christian Louboutin Cabaraparis line captures the beauty and inspiration of Paris through the artistry and craftsmanship of artists around the world.
“Paris is my ultimate muse. It’s one of the most visited cities in the world, with some of the grandest architecture. I wanted to capture that fantasy element of Paris, not anchor the Cabaraparis in reality,” said Christian Louboutin.
Christian Louboutins’s Caba series supports global artists from Mexico, Portugal, Manila and Africa. For the Cabaraparis collection he partnered with illustrator and close personal friend Hélène Tran, who uses the tote to showcase the duality of Paris—on one side of the tote, the collection's flagship piece, Paris is illustrated in the daytime and on the opposite side, the nighttime. The bag is available in two delicate and distinct styles, each embellished with strass crystals. Each of the Cabaraparis’ five printed neoprene panels pays tribute to some of the city’s most emblematic moments and monuments.
This collection marks the first time he has collaborated with Tran, but the fifth piece in the Caba series. Along with two sized totes, there are ankle-wrapped stilettos, sky-high pumps, PVC sandals, spiked-toe sneakers and chunky satin wedges.
With the City of Lights as a subject, the collection is also a major theme as part of his L’Exhibition[niste] exhibition at the Palais de la Porte Dorée, which recently reopened, and will remain open until January 3rd, 2021. Additionally, Louboutin will be donating to the Fondation Marcel Bleustein-Blanchet de la Vocation, a Paris-based foundation that chooses 25 artists each year to help them pursue their artistic discipline.
